Codes that never expire
These are static QR codes: the link or data is stored in the pattern itself. There's no redirect service in between, so the code works forever, without an account, subscription or tracking — unlike "dynamic" QR codes from many generators, which stop working when a trial ends. The trade-off: to change the destination later you need to print a new code.
What each type does
- Link — opens a website. Shorter URLs give simpler codes that scan more easily from a distance.
- Wi-Fi — phones join the network after scanning (built into iOS 11+ and Android 10+ cameras). Great for guest networks, cafés and offices.
- Contact — a vCard: name, phone, email, company and website are offered as a new contact.
- Email / Phone / SMS — open a new email, a call or a text message, pre-filled.
Printing tips
- Keep strong contrast: dark code on a light background. Inverted (light on dark) codes don't scan in some apps; you'll be warned.
- Keep the margin ("quiet zone") around the code, at least 2 modules.
- Print at least 2 × 2 cm for close-up scanning; for posters, about 1/10 of the scanning distance (a code read from 3 m should be ~30 cm).
- Higher error correction survives scratches and dirt but makes the pattern denser. Medium suits most uses.
- Use SVG for print and design tools: it scales to any size without blur. Test the printed code with a couple of phones before a big print run.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The code is generated in your browser, so nothing you add is sent to gratistools.be. See the privacy page for details.
