What CODA is
CODA (coded statement of account) is the Belgian bank statement format defined by Febelfin: a text file of 128-character records. Accounting software imports it to book payments automatically. Each statement has a header (0), old balance (1), movements (2.1–2.3), extra information (3.x), free messages (4), new balance (8) and a trailer (9) with totals.
What this viewer checks
- Debit and credit totals and the record count against the trailer — catches truncated or edited files.
- Opening balance + movements = closing balance.
- Structured communications (type 101/102) and their check digits; counterparty IBAN, BIC and name from records 2.2/2.3.
- Transaction codes decoded to their family (SEPA credit transfer, direct debit, card, fees…).
Exports
CSV and JSON use the same columns as the CAMT viewer, so you can process CODA and CAMT (ISO 20022 XML) statements with the same code. Anonymise replaces names, accounts and messages with fictional but valid values while keeping amounts and dates — ideal for sharing a test file with a software vendor.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Parsing runs in your browser; the file never leaves your device. Bank statements, invoices and tax files often contain personal and financial data — that's exactly why nothing is sent to gratistools.be.
